Who runs Site Measure
Vincent Ruan runs Site Measure and decides what it publishes. He does not personally check every figure; instead each one links to its source and the date it was recorded, and the methodology explains how they were gathered and checked. Independence
Site Measure currently carries no advertising, no affiliate links and no paid listings, and has no business relationship with any supplier, store or manufacturer named on the site. Suppliers appear because their price lists or product pages publish a figure we use.

What we do
We publish the calculation method, use explicit unit labels and let you replace the general density with your own product specification. Calculations happen in your browser. You do not need an account.
Where our figures come from
Material weights and prices come from suppliers’ own price lists and product pages; installed driveway costs come from named cost guides and contractors and are labelled as such. The site currently rests on 35 published weights per yard from 26 sources and 64 published prices from 17 suppliers, each stored with the page it came from and the date it was recorded. Depths and sizes come from the documents that set them: state DOT specifications, the FHWA, ICPI and the CPSC. Where two sources disagree, the page shows both. See how we rank sources.
How calculations are checked
Our verification notes describe the software checks and their limits. Published material references link to their source.
Who writes the guides
Guides credited to Site Measure are published under the project’s name. Our focus is material quantity estimation: explaining units, making assumptions visible and connecting calculations to published product references. The maintainer is named above; we do not claim contractor credentials or an independent engineering review.
Our editorial approach
We distinguish supplier-published figures from calculation assumptions. Worked examples are labelled when hypothetical, and sources accompany material and price references. AI assistance was used across the site’s research and writing, and the methodology page describes the process. Each calculator and guide page repeats this in a note, apart from the home page and the calculator index. Software checks verify arithmetic, not site conditions or the suitability of an installation specification.
Material corrections should identify the affected page, source and assumption. Substantive revisions receive an updated date; changing a link does not make old price evidence new. Past fixes are listed under changes and corrections.
What to check before ordering
We do not sell gravel or supply installation specifications. Your supplier or installer should confirm the material, depth, compaction requirements and purchase increments. To picture a delivery before it arrives, see what a ton of gravel looks like.
